What’s Behind the Name?
  • The Cariboo Trail follows the old route of the trail blazed for the telegraph line. (Quesnel & area).
  • The Telkwa Wagon Trail was named after the road which connected the communities of Aldermere and Telkwa. From present-day Tower Street, the road would have continued in a westerly direction down to Telkwa. ).
  • The River Grade Trail follows the original “highway” which linked Telkwa with Houston. The road followed the Bulkley River for several miles. Locally this road was given the name “River Grade”.
