Untouched, unspoiled, unbelievably beautiful, Telkwa!

Surrounded by snow-capped mountain ranges and a myriad of lakes and streams,
Telkwas spectacular natural setting offers extensive outdoor adventure
and recreational opportunities. (Photo insert) Whether you love to hike
into an alpine lake, canoe through white water rapids, ski down fresh
powdered slopes, or battle the will of a large Steelhead, Telkwa offers
year round wilderness adventures. Besides everything for the outdoor enthusiast,
Telkwa can also offer travelers great dining, accommodations and services.
Telkwa is a small rural community with BIG spirit! Throughout the year,
our dedicated volunteers work on special events the entire family can
enjoy. Two of the seasonal favorites include: the internationally sanctioned
Telkwa Gold Sled Dog Championships held in February, featuring some of
the best sled dog sprint racers in the world and the annual Bulkley Valley
Kinsmen Labour Day Barbecue and Demolition Derby.
You can take the walking tour to view the historical buildings, or follow
the community trails that link the Tyhee Lake Provincial Park campground
and historical Aldermere townsite to the downtown core. Perhaps lunch
in a beautiful riverside park overlooking Hudson Bay Mountain is more
your style. Whatever you choose, we are certain you will be captivated
by the turn of the century charm, and ambiance Telkwa has to offer.
We invite you to come explore our friendly village, Telkwa, the Gateway
to the Northwest.
