Telkwa Barbecue and Demolition Derby
One event you might want to try is the Telkwa Barbecue and Demolition Derby. This annual event has been a Telkwa tradition for years. Put on by the local Bulkley Valley Kinsmen Club on the Labour Day long weekend in September, the event features weekend long festivities including a ball tournament, beef barbecue, demolition derby, horseshoe tournament and dance. Lots of great entertainment for the whole family.
Canada Day Celebration
This annual celebration includes many diverse community groups who are involved in the organization of this event. The variety of events encourages participation from all ages, culture, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds in celebrating their community, and country.
Halloween
The Telkwa Community Initiatives Society hosts an annual Hallowe’en Pumpkin Carving Contest every year. Join us at the old Madison Avenue auto detailing shop on that hallowed eve for lots of spooky fun. The doors creak open at 6:30pm, and slam shut again at 8:30 pm. Warmed by hot chocolate, popcorn, pumpkin viewing and great company, all the goblins and ghouls can walk over to Eddy Park afterwards for the fireworks put on by the Telkwa Fire Department.
