CORPORATION OF THE VILLAGE OF TELKWA

NOTICE OF ELECTION BY VOTING

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY given to the electors of the Village of Telkwa that an election by voting is necessary to elect four (4) Councillors for a three-year term commencing December 2011 and terminating December 2014, and that the persons nominated as candidates and for whom votes will be received are:

The following question will also be submitted to the electorate in the Village of Telkwa:

Are you in favour of the Village of Telkwa borrowing a sum not exceeding one million dollars to finance the purchase and renovation of the North West Premium Meat Co-op building and lands at 1415 Hankin Avenue and adjacent Lots 7, 8, 9, Block C.

VOTING DATES AND LOCATIONS

GENERAL VOTING DAY: Voting will be open to qualified electors of the Village of Telkwa on Saturday, November 19th, 2011, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM at the following location:
The Village of Telkwa Municipal Office, 1415 Hankin Avenue, Telkwa, BC

ADVANCE VOTING OPPORTUNITY
Advance voting will be open at the village office, 1415 Hankin Ave., Wednesday, November 9, 2011, between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm.

ELECTOR REGISTRATION

If you are not on the list of electors, you may register at the time of voting by completing the required application form available at the voting place. To register you must meet the following qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Canadian citizen
  • resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately preceding voting day
  • resident of OR registered owner of real property in the Village of Telkwa for at least 30 days immediately preceding voting day, and
  • not otherwise disqualified by law from voting.

Resident electors will also be required to produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature). Picture identification is not necessary. The identification must prove both residency and identity.

Non-resident property electors must produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature) to prove identity, proof that they are entitled to register in relation to the property, and, if applicable, written consent from the other property owners.
