WATER TESTER CALLS IN TELKWA!

The Smithers RCMP have been contacted by Consumer Protection BC and advised that the person representing himself as Lloyd SCHELL has been prohibited by Consumer Protection BC as a result of an investigation conducted by Consumer Protection BC in 2005.

SCHELL has been directed to “immediately cease entering into, or facilitating in any manner, direct sales with the Province of BC for a period of five years”. The reports received by the RCMP indicated that SCHELL has been attempting to sell water testing to local residents in the Telkwa and Smithers area.

Smithers RCMP are providing the public with the following contact information in the event they have specific consumer related complaints and/or inquiries about suspicious phone calls related to this matter.

Smithers RCMP have not entered into a criminal investigation. We are advising the public in order to assist them in making informed decisions concerning purchasing products or in the release of personal information.

Smithers RCMP would like to remind the public to use extreme caution when releasing personal information over the phone and to confirm the credentials of callers before purchasing products or services.
