Pilot Recycling Program
The Village of Telkwa, in partnership with the TD Bank Friends of the Environment Program, will be initiating a pilot recycling program beginning October 4, 2011. Participation in the recycling program is voluntary. Participants will be given recycle bags and must use a separate bag for each type of recycle material.
Materials accepted for recycle are:
- White stationery paper
- Glossy or “magazine” paper
- Newsprint
- Cardboard
- Cans (no return $ given)
- Glass (no return $ given)
- #2 plastic and milk jugs
If you want to participate in the program, you can pick up your supply of recycle bags at the Village office.
Recycling Tips
Bottles and Cans - Aluminum and glass are the most easily recycled, so set aside soup cans, beverage cans and glass bottles. Just make sure you rinse them out first.
Plastic - Check all of your plastic for a small triangle with the #2 in it. Items such as milk jugs , shampoo and detergent bottles are #2 plastics and easily recycled.
Paper and Cardboard - Separate your paper as follows:
- White stationery paper
- Newsprint (newspapers, flyers, old phonebooks)
- Glossy paper (magazines)
- Cardboard (shipping boxes, cereal boxes, etc.. Make sure you flatten boxes.)
GARBAGE PICKUP DAYS WILL REMAIN THE SAME.
RECYCLING WILL BE PICKED UP EVERY 2ND TUESDAY.
PLEASE HAVE YOUR RECYCLE BAGS OUT BY 8:00 AM ON PICK UP DAY
The Village of Telkwa pilot recycling program is sponsored by a grant from the TD Bank Friends of the Environment Foundation.
